2 DAYS, 4 SHOWS, SORE TOES - PART 3: TENT & SUPER BRANDS LONDON (posted 23rd October 2015)
I headed towards the East End of London early on the morning of Thursday 24th September, hoping to miss the rush at Tent & Super Brands London… Well I should have stopped for a coffee (or two) because when the show opened it wasn’t really ready for the public. While there was no queue, stands were still being hoovered and rather startlingly some of the companies names had yet to be put up!!! Which, given the fact that most visitors will simply take a photo of the stand on their phones, to avoid having to carry the equivalent of several small trees around all day, just seems odd! But the plot thickens as some of the exhibitors (who’d paid a handsome fee to be there and had even travelled from around the world) weren’t even allowed to put the name of their brand next to their product (apologies for the lack of labels). I think the exhibitors were going for a gallery-type effect… very much to the detriment of the exhibitor and the visitor!
That aside, I wandered around the maze of exhibitors (literally a maze, so I hope I got to see everything, but the floorplan was so confusing it wouldn’t surprise me if I missed a few) and there were some interesting designs and features that encouraged several of the senses, including the tasting of several Asian cuisine courses at one stand… which I stood at for a while, but wasn’t served anything, so I walked on.
This was definitely the most creative exhibition of the four that I visited and it was good to see that people were pushing boundaries and engrossing themselves in the world that they love: design.
This seating set includes a felt-finned table-tray.
Interesting shelf dividers
Have a great weekend,
