Curious About Lights (posted 21st October 2016)
At Suna Interior Design we’re curious about beautiful lights! Curiousa and Curiousa are a British company who create bespoke, hand-blown glass lighting by hand blowing (no moulds, no machines) each piece in their workshop.
Their glass blowers work at temperatures of above 1000 degrees celcius. ‘The molten glass is stretched, formed and manipulated, re-heating and blowing to bring it into shape. Formed first by hand and breath, and then by callipers, pliers and pincers, constantly rolling, constantly evolving, until the final shape is achieved.’
Curiousa & Curiousa have brought out their winter collection which includes the Caravaggio Collection and the Cloak & Dagger Collection.
The Caravaggio Collection took ‘inspiration from the Italian 16th century Baroque painter and combines deep, sensuous shades with shimmers of light cast through Swarovski crystals.’ These lights are created using methods that date back to the 15th and 16th centuries.
The striking Cloak & Dagger Collection range uses finishes of nickel, copper and a leather-look.
Here are some more pics of their fabulous designs – we had a hard time narrowing the image selection down!
