Elegant or Funky - some of our recent work for Crest Nicholson (posted 16th April 2013)

We’ve had the pictures up on our Facebook site, but thought we’d share a little insider knowledge about some of the recent design work we’ve done for Crest Nicholson. The first project is Bath Riverside, and as the name suggests this elegant apartment is located in the iconic city of Bath, Somerset.

The brief given for this two bedroom apartment was ‘contemporary classic’. The colour palate reflects this and is brought to life by bright coral pink that is bold, but has been used subtly throughout the apartment. Stylish wallpaper with a classic and intriguing floral design further enhances the living space. The space has been maximised by cleverly utilizing captivating items of furniture, such as the Zen Floor Lamp overhanging the bespoke punch-button armchair.

The second project is Park Central in Birmingham – ideally designed for someone who is stylishly on trend. The brief was to appeal to a young and funky demographic and to use a burnt orange colour scheme. The colour palate reflects this bringing in gray, black and white, which combine to give the apartment a clean, attractive and vibrant feel.

Quirky furniture, such as the round dining table comprising black metal legs and an Oak top with feature orange chairs and the round coffee table are both interesting and create a more spacious feel to the room. The colour palate is continued into the bedroom where the feature headboard creates a striking effect. Chunky Elm side tables ground the room while adding an extra dimension to the design. One of the most striking elements of the design is the burnt orange ceiling in the bedroom.

Probably the most challenging aspect of this design was to keep the orange aspect elegant. Through clever use of gray, black and white along with strategic piece-placement throughout the apartment, the result is a young, funky and inviting apartment.
