Spot the Difference, photographic wallpapers (posted 28th June 2012)

So often I start a scheme with an image I have seen. Some of the images that inspire me are maybe not achievable in the space, or the budget, or in the clients opinion. But there are ways and means of taking an idea, and transforming it into something that works for you.

Have a look at some of my 'Wall Cheats' below!

This room is madly full of books and shelves and lots and lots of stuff.....
...so for a cleaner cripser, cheaper, less dust-collecting solution go for one of the wide range of bookshelf wallpapers that are in the marketplace at the moment. They look great, and I love it when you add a clock, a mirror or a piece of artwork on the wall, really plays with the depth of your field of vision.

If you love the idea of a blackboard wall, but your OCD cleaning habit can't bear the thought of the dust, the chalkiness and your friends unwelcome contributions onto the wall....
...then try this fab Andrew Martin wallpaper, conveniently already drawn (neatly) on, and with a pattern repeat to please your need for symmetry and repetition. It might even make you look quite clever.
Do you live in a beautiful New York style loft? No? Well you could try (tongue-in-cheek, please) and recreate the look. Red brick, white brick, you choose....
Real brick wall...
...Wallpapered brick wall, equally nice in a clean 'won't skin your elbow' kind of way.
Nice pale brick wall...
...And GORGEOUS white brick wallpaper version
So, if your house isn't a warehouse style loft....is it a beach house?
No? Well try some of these to recreate the look without potential for splinters...
Right, not a loft, not a beach house...you must live in a stately home with beautiful hand crafted wall panelling lining your snug? I am beginning to worry my audience isn't quite as high brow as I would have liked. So, no country house? Well, try one of these wallpapers instead then.

OK, so you live in a caravan. Do you have a wall of photos/postcards/love letters/album covers? Or displays of your very impressive coffee table books?
No, again?? Well don't worry, you can cheat all of the above too, and with some high degree of style...

So, crack on then, go turn your abode into something it isn't...I'm off to paper my downstairs loo with love letters.....
