Key Autumn Trends : Cosy Comfort (posted 19th September 2012)

After a pretty miserable summer, we are now heading into a (hopefully!) sunny but crisp and cold Autumn, so now is the time to start looking to how we can make ourselves feel better and not bemoan the fall of a summer that didn't ever really arrive!

We are looking at textures and warmth for our Autumn inspiration, think cable knit wool, warm grey felts, tweeds and tartans, toasty browns and chocolates, heated up with reds and russets, ochres and sunshine yellows. Picture yourself in layered comfort, curled up by a roaring fire and you get the picture. Furniture styles are going back to more handmade, one-off unique pieces, rather than high gloss, hard and minimal. Spend a bit more on one piece and mix it in with more ‘found’ objects, trawl the internet, antiques shops and boutique stores. Colours don’t need to be over-coordinated, there is a backlash against everything looking ‘just so’ towards a more collected, carefully combined arrangement of colours, textures and finishes. Handmade or bespoke digitally printed wallpapers, unique prints, original art, vintage lighting and hand-picked exquisite accessories combine to ensure an individual and exclusive environment can be achieved with careful selection of each key element.
