So Hot Right Now (posted 22nd July 2016)
Summer has arrived! And now is the time to really whip out all of the fabulous trends that have been waiting for the glorious weather to truly shine. Here are some of the Suna Interior Design’s designers top summer trends for what’s ‘so hot right now!’
Our first trend is ikat. The word ‘ikat’ comes from the Malaysian word ‘mengikat’ which means ‘to-tie’. To create the unique designs, threads are tied into bundles and tie-dyed. After which they are woven together to create the fabric. Either the warp or weft threads are died, or in some cases both and this is known as a double ikat. Today ikat patterns are used on a variety of materials, including pottery.
Our second trend is Exoticism with lush, green foliage. Think along the lines of the images below. House of Hackney have a delightful scerene green range.
(Rebecca is particularly excited about her new kitchen and being able to bake fantastic cakes)
Other trending influences are Tiki tropicals, Cuban interiors and retro architecture (think Palm Springs). Great examples can be seen at Soho House, Ace Hotel and sketch. If you’re looking for something to liven up your room try visiting Abigail Ahern’s website.
Have a great weekend and enjoy the warm weather,
