2019 Colour Predictions…

#3 ‘STORY’

1.11.18

We are moving onto the next in line in our series of Colour Predictions, as presented by Colour Hive Limited, the colour experts behind MIX Magazine, at Decorex 2018. They profiled four key colour stories for 2019/20, Wild, Story, Solace, and Vibe, and now in our third week we are taking a peek into the colour influences of ‘STORY’.

Head over to Pinterest to have a browse through some #interiorinspo that we have put together for this particular colour palette.

After the nature-inspired ‘WILD’ and the peace and tranquillity of ‘SOLACE’, ‘STORY’ is literally that. A telling of journeys and travelling, of the spread of ideas and rituals, of the divergence of cultures and styles.

Whether looking retrospectively and charting the history and progress of a planet of nomads, moving around and resettling, bringing new customs and traditions with them. Or as a comment on the contemporary amalgamation of all the cultures and societies around the globe, a mixing pot that has been brought about by travel and technology.

This colour prediction is replete with pattern and texture, highly illustrative and pictorial. Bringing blues, yellows and browns together with a touch of fresh green, we are looking at the human influence on nature, at civilisation brought about by communication and collaboration. Colours and patterns brought together in telling a Story.

An eclectic scheme, curated to bring a sense of a home built up over a period of time, this is an interior story depicting the evolution of a home. This show home for Peabody at The Levers in Elephant and Castle.

Muted tones of grey and taupe, enlivened with yellow, and combined with unique items of furniture and artwork. Personality and a personal aesthetic brought to life in this show home for London Square at their Bermondsey development.

A highly illustrative interior, using artwork and carefully selected items of furniture, fabric and wallpaper to tell the story and bring the identity of the potential purchaser to life. This show home for Hyde New Homes at their Remix Helix development in Harlesden taps right into the personality of the surrounding area.

A few lovely images using accessories and styling to paint the picture and set the mood. These photos taken of a show home designed and installed for Nu Living at their Beechwood development in Basildon.

And finally, demonstrating the use of strongly decorative wallpapers with the fresh colour palette we have this show home for Fruition Properties at their Merchant Terrace development in Hammersmith.

So that’s ‘Story’. You can look back at last two weeks Journal for ‘Wild’ and ‘Solace’ and we will bring you the final Colour Prediction, ‘Vibe’, next week.
