SUNA INTERIOR DESIGN TURNS 25
We are celebrating 25 years of innovative, design-led interiors in collaboration with our developer clients. 25 years of shaping standout show homes, marketing suites, interior specification and residential developments.
This year marks 25 years of Suna Interior Design, giving us the opportunity to look back on a legacy of innovative, design-led interiors created in partnership with developers across the UK. Renowned for shaping distinctive show homes, impactful marketing suites, refined residential amenities and thoughtfully considered interior specification, we continue to set the standard for interiors that elevate both brand and experience.
For a quarter of a century, our work has combined creativity, commercial insight and craftsmanship to bring visionary developments to life.
In no particular order, read on for some of our favourite projects over the years…
“We were so excited to work on the three schemes at Hampstead Manor, a site that brings together contemporary new-build homes with beautifully refurbished historic buildings on the former campus of Westfield College, a women-only institution with a history dating back to the late 19th century.
“Our work spanned the new-build duplexes at Sumray Row, as well as the restored Chapel and Skeel Library, each with its own distinct character and narrative. It was a real joy to bring the look and feel of these spaces to life, from the grandeur and drama of the double-height Chapel, anchored by a bespoke pendant light designed specifically for the space, to the rich and sumptuous bedrooms within the sympathetically designed bedroom addition.
“In the Skeel Library, the design captures the comfort and curiosity of a good book, with layered textures and moments of detail that invite discovery at every turn. A personal favourite of mine is the reading room - a tiny sliver of the former school corridors, transformed into a lush yet reflective space designed for quiet moments with a good book.”

“This was one of those projects where we felt we truly made our mark, time and time again. I first visited the warehouse buildings right at the outset, before construction began, so I’ve seen firsthand how the development has transformed over the years. Getting involved at such an early stage allowed us to thoughtfully consider the relationship between the existing buildings and the new residential blocks that would later join them.
“We initially collaborated closely with the client and architects on the interior specifications for the apartments and penthouses. This naturally led to the design of the marketing suite and show apartment, located within the future community art centre, an exceptionally unique and impressive space. We also designed the interiors for the marketing CGIs, ensuring the visuals reflected the individuality and quality of the final homes.
“Even after the apartments had sold, we returned to work on the commercial element of the scheme at The Pickle Factory, where we designed and furnished the communal atrium and meeting rooms shared by the incoming businesses.
“This was a project we were involved with over several years, and it remains one we are immensely proud of today.”

“The Hub at Coppermaker Square offers amenity space in abundance, and so designing each level with a distinct identity and purpose was a really exciting task for Suna to take on. It was crucial to design social spaces and co-working environments that residents felt comfortable using during the day and relaxing in throughout the evenings. As part of the design process we loved being able to layer different materials to create personality, while retaining that core palette of warm timber and natural stone.
“This vast project spanned a number of years for us, and it was a joy to collaborate with the URW team to see these designs right through to completion.”

GASHOLDERS FOR RELATED ARGENT
“Set within a refurbished triplet of Grade II-listed, cast iron gasholder guide frames, the iconic development is located next to Coal Drops Yard in the heart of King’s Cross.
“With an incredible backdrop of the London skyline outside each room and captivating artwork from established and emerging UK artists, there is a presence of beautiful craftsmanship and sophisticated warmth in every nook and cranny. From the Paul Smith ‘Carnival’ Rug in the living area, to the bespoke artwork by Helen Booth and Emily Moore on the walls of the stairway and study; from the historic images by Linda Benedict-Jones of the Gasholders in the 1970’s in the snug to the unique handmade feature light in the hallway; from the stunning pendant light over the beautifully crafted solid oak dining table to the edgy and characterful Timorous Beasties wallpaper in the secondary bedrooms, every single element of this design has been considered and selected to bring the design to life.”

“We had the wonderful opportunity to design the interior specification for the unique penthouses at Dollar Bay. These apartments were not the normal lateral expanses you might expect but instead had floors stacked vertically finished off with a triple height space on the very top of the building. We celebrated that within our design creating a unique staircase taking you from floor to floor until you reach the spa area sitting on top of the world. The feature tiled wall with integrated lighting provides a stunning backdrop allowing the owner to sit back and enjoy the views.
“Every detail of the penthouse was considered to provide a cohesive design reflective of the angled facets prominent within the architecture, even down to the door handles. It was a treat to get the chance to stretch our creative muscles on such a unique property.”

“Working with Hill on the redesign of their office breakout space gave us the opportunity to engage with some truly remarkable architecture. Set inside an 18th-century gunpowder mill, the space is rich with industrial character and an open-plan layout, so our challenge was to soften these elements and to design a breakout area that felt warm and welcoming. This needed to be somewhere that staff could take a break from their desks or meet with one another in an informal setting.
“'The Power Bar' became the heart of the space, a central refreshments station designed to bring people together. Positioned at the centre of the breakout area, it helps energise the space day to day and also lends itself perfectly to hosting events. Hill’s signature blue was paired with copper accents and layered with greenery to soften the industrial surroundings. Across the breakout area, we created different pockets of seating such as the booths for quieter moments or relaxed sofa seating for having a coffee with colleagues.”

NINE ELMS FOR LONDON SQUARE
“Designers often throw around words like unique, luxurious and aspirational, and indeed those were some of the words that were part of the initial brief to us for the interior specification on this job. We’re so pleased that the client trusted us on this one, it’s always so satisfying when a client goes to such great lengths to see through every detail of your design, and on this one, they really, really did.
“We also had the opportunity to design and install one of the show homes, with an emphasis on eco-conscious design, embracing products and processes that epitomise environmentally friendly practices while keeping luxury at the forefront. Reseraching in detail all aspects of procurement, from sustainable materials to locally sourced artwork, innovative and original products to pre-loved and vintage styling. There is even a table made from British wool!”

“This is one of my all-time favourites. As a fan of refurbished houses it was such a unique opportunity to transform these beautiful old properties which had been left to ruin. I remember walking around the derelict buildings right at the start of the project and I could see how much potential there was to create stunning homes. We worked with the Heritage officer to ensure we could keep the historical elements alongside refurbishing and redesigning the interiors. The new specification needed to feel classic to complement the homes but also modern and up to date to reflect the right lifestyle. I was lucky enough to take a trip to Greece to pick out the marble slabs for these houses which was such a treat and I think the bathrooms really benefit from such a striking material.
“It was the cherry on the cake to be able to work on the show home too to allow us to showcase how you could furnish one of these properties. I always remember discovering the huge double doors in a wall between the now kitchen and living room where they had been covered over. So to see them back to their full glory and having the chance to dress out the home to show off all of its history was the perfect end to our design journey on this project.”

“We had completed the interior specification for the apartments on this development so it was great to have the chance to design the resident amenities too. This was quite a while ago and pre-Covid so the idea of co-working spaces wasn't really a thing. However the end result has stood the test of time as the residents lounge area actually works really well for that function.
“The Concierge flows into the lounge and there is a gym and screen room just down the corridor. As always we like to create a design which allows each area to have its own individual look and feel whilst working together harmoniously when you move from area to area.”

“This is still one of our flagship marketing suites, designed and installed in a prestigious, historic development on Richmond Hill.
“The functionality, finishes and attention to detail were second to none, overseen from start to finish by the Suna team. The marketing suite had to convey the aspiration and luxurious lifestyle of the potential purchasers, and blend seamlessly the traditional elements of the development with the contemporary expectations of a modern development.”

NO 1 DEANSGATE FOR CROSBY HOMES
“Where it all started! Not the very first scheme for Suna Interior Design but the first one where Suna, Becks and I got to work together and form our team, and what a property it was. We designed an uplift to the apartment interior specs and also had the opportunity to furnish both the duplex and triplex apartments. As it was such early days all three of us were completely hands on and I have great memories of long days running up and down the stairs lugging furniture, accessories, plants etc from place to place. Gorgeous apartments but no lifts between floors so it was quite the work out.
“The building, by Ian Simpson Architects, was one of the first of its kind and has spawned many more versions within the architectural field so its great to have had the chance to work on such an iconic development so early in our careers!”
HELEN FEWSTER, OWNER AND DIRECTOR
“Our concept for this town house was to combine a show home with a pop-up gallery space. The perfect way to combine my own two passions in life, interior design and art. Two quite differing objectives but we achieved them in this white on white scheme, allowing a purchaser to see how they could live in this stunning Portobello townhouse, whilst also letting the developer go to town on their PR collaboration with a local gallery, planning boujie private views that hit two birds with one stone!
